Yes — as long as it meets the MVC’s requirements. Your car must be registered, insured (bring the insurance card), and carry a current inspection sticker. The examiner — the MVC calls them a Safety Specialist — must also be able to reach the foot brake or parking brake from the passenger seat, so a center console or anything blocking that access is an automatic no.
The MVC will turn a car away if: the inspection sticker is expired or missing, the brakes or parking brake are weak, the tires are unsafe, seatbelts are missing, the engine idles too fast, the interior is unreasonably dirty, the windows are tinted, it’s a self-parking vehicle, or it’s missing required license plate decals — like the red GDL decals for drivers under 21.
